Welcome to the Northeast Missouri Beekeepers Association!

We would like to welcome you to the Northeast Missouri Beekeepers Association (NEMOBA)! Our local club was organized in the spring of 2011, at the conclusion of our first annual Beginner’s Beekeeping Class (held at Running Fox Elementary School south of Wayland, Missouri). Our purpose is to facilitate education and interest in honey bees and beekeeping; to encourage beginners to become successful beekeepers; and to provide a forum for sharing knowledge and experiences with fellow beekeepers of the local tri-state area of Missouri, Iowa, and Illinois.

Membership

The Northeast Missouri Beekeepers Association meets regularly (during normal circumstances) each month on the first Monday at 6PM. All individuals, not just members, are welcome and invited to join us at our family friendly monthly meetings. We meet at the Lewis County Regional Airport located in Lewis County, Missouri (address: 24608 State Highway 16 Canton Missouri). We will endeavor to keep the location and times of our current meetings updated on our events page and Facebook page. Questions, please contact our Club President, Chris Pearl (nemobeekeepers@gmail.com) or vice-president, Wesley Lay (wlay3@yahoo.com). If interested in joining NEMOBA, please see our MEMBERSHIP page.

Events

We hope to have a beginners’ beekeeping class each year near the end of winter/early spring. This is in order for new beekeepers to be able to order package bees, if desired, before the ordering deadline. We also hope to have a “box party” to help individuals assemble their new hive boxes and wooden ware each spring. Please stay tuned to our Events page for more information as dates and locations become available.

Contact

Don’t hesitate to reach out by email, postal mail, message on our Facebook page or phone with any questions you might have about our club, meetings, or upcoming events. Also, many of our members may have locally harvested honey available for sale, or be able to help you with swarm removal. Please utilize our listed contact info to inquire about these services.
